St. Peter’s Cream Stout

I tried St. Peter’s Cream Stout cause I had no idea what a cream stout was. St. Peter’s Cream Stout is brewed by the St. Peter’s Brewery in the U.K.
You notice immediately that this is going to be a heavy, thick beer. The color is dark amber, with a slight reddish tint and approaches pitch black in the center. The smell has a strange quality. I would describe it as the smell of a cabernet sauvignon. You can kind of catch a hint of berries. The smell is more akin to wine than beer. The Taste is just bitter. Bitter at the start, bitter at the end, a lot of bitter in the middle, and very dry throughout. I could try to describe some of the other flavors but it wouldn’t be worth it. All you can taste is bitter. You would expect this to have a very high alcohol content but at only 6.5% it seems to have a lot of bitterness for the alcohol content.
Normally at this point I’m winding down to the bottom of the glass but this beer is so bitter I’ve almost got a full glass. I can’t recommend this to anyone, even if you like dark beers stay away from this one. Try some of the other dark beers I’ve reviewed. Maybe you’re supposed to drink this beer warm or at room temperature, I don’t know, but I’m not going to find out. Oh yeah, I still have no idea what cream stout is.

I’m not an avid beer drinker, when I do find myself cutting loose I am usually found with a long trail in my hand. After a tasting at a local co op I found myself strangely attracted to this dark beer. I am about half done and still enjoying the flavor, with that said i must add, I did start it with a big fat juicy veggie burger( not your average burger) In my opinion this is definitely a beer best enjoyed with a meal
I couldn’t disagree with the review more. I absolutely LOVE St Peter’s Cream Stout. I think it is very smooth as opposed to bitter. I also find it to be extremely sweet as opposed to dry. The flavors include chocolate, coffee, and caramel. It also has plenty of carbonation which is something lacking in many stouts and darker beers. I think it is a perfect dessert beer; that is, it can be paired with a rich dessert OR it can BE your dessert. I highly highly recommend it to anyone who likes a dark strong beer.
St. Peters Crean stout is without peer. This beer must be comsumed at room temp. The flavor is superb. If I had only a handfull of beers to choose from this will be on the list. The beer is very fattening though. Here in California (my city)it sells for about $4.00 per bottle. Well worth the cost for a beer that should be sipped and never guzzeled. I also like this beer while eating a meaty deli sandwich. I highly recommend this beer for all you stout lovers but you must drink it at room temp. I do not like this beer cold.
This is the best stout I’ve ever tried…better than old man Tooth’s (Tooth Sheaf stout from Australia) and don’t even bother to compare it with the inferior but ubiquitous Guinness. Sweet for a stout and if you don’t like it you might just want to have tea.
