White

White beer is a Belgian style, unfiltered wheat beer brewed by the Lakefront Brewery in Wisconsin. The label is adorned with a jester dressed in red and yellow holding a beer. I’m hoping it’s like a mascot or something cause it looks a little ridiculous, and makes it hard to take this beer seriously.

The beer forms a great, fluffy, snow-like head that subsides rather quickly when poured. It is bright yellow, and cloudy due to the yeast not being filtered out, with a slight greenish tint. White’s smell is a fragrant blend of hops and citrus fruits. Overall the taste is bland. It could definitely benefit from slice of orange or lemon to compliment the citrus tones. The hops are the most prominent taste with no bitterness and a clean finish. I couldn’t find the alcohol content of this beer on the bottle or online but I’m guessing it’s rather low, probably in the 4% – 5% range which does give it easy drinkability.

Being a fan of wheat beers I was anxious to see how this one stacked up but the bland flavor just didn’t have the substance I crave. Maybe a slice of orange or lemon could have perked this up a bit, but I won’t add any extra items to beers I review. I will, however, have another with a lemon just to see the difference and I’ll update this post with my thoughts.

Once again I have two more of these beers I’d be willing to part with for the modest sum of $4 each.
